Pastor’s October Newsletter Article
Dear Friends in Christ,
Grace and peace to you from our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
This month, I want to talk with you about something essential to the life and future of our church: communication.
Many people think of communication as simply talking. But real communication has three parts:
- Speaking – sharing our thoughts, ideas, or questions.
- Listening – not just hearing, but truly seeking to understand what others are saying.
- Responding – reflecting back what we’ve heard so that together we can move toward clarity.
Good communication doesn’t always mean we all agree. It means we all understand. And when we understand each other, even if we see things differently, we can move forward together with confidence and unity. Most importantly, as the church, we’re not just seeking human consensus—we’re seeking God’s wisdom and direction for our life together.
Speaking of moving forward, have you been to Sunday worship lately? Things have changed—and in such a wonderful way! We have truly created a family worship experience by bringing Powerhouse Kids into worship. Each week, I spend the first 10–15 minutes gathering with the children, teaching them on the same biblical theme we explore together as a church. Afterward, they go to the nursery and conference room to continue learning in age-appropriate ways.
I am so grateful for the parents and adults who volunteer their time to help nurture the faith of our youngest disciples. Together, we are planting seeds that will grow for years to come.
And there are more opportunities to grow in faith beyond Sunday mornings. I look forward to seeing you not only in worship but also in one of our G2 Growth Groups, where we can dig deeper into God’s Word and strengthen our life together as a church family.
This month also brings two important opportunities for us to practice good communication as a congregation:
- Our first conversation with Grace UMC – Members of our One Board and Dixon Grace’s Leadership will begin exploring what a cooperative ministry and shared future might look like. This is just the beginning of many conversations over the next year, and your prayers and voices matter.
- Our Third Quarter Town Hall and Potluck – Sunday, October 12, after worship.
We’ll share a meal and discuss the state of our church, the transition of our first One Board leadership class beginning in January 2026, and the upcoming Special Charge Conference (late October or early November), where we’ll vote on the future of our parsonage(s).
These are not just “meetings.” They are sacred opportunities to listen to one another, to seek God’s will together, and to strengthen the bonds that unite us as the body of Christ.
I invite you—come ready to listen, to share, and to pray. Together, with God’s guidance, we will move forward in faith.
I look forward to seeing you around town and especially in worship or a G2 – Growth Group.
In Christ’s love, Pastor Tim
