Just thinking….

Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.  Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.

James1:22

This Bible verse says what D.A.Y. is all about. Doing.  Not Bible lessons or preaching. This is why, in our D.A.Y. group, we DO things for others. We gather Thank You cards to spread gratitude, we paint rocks to spread love and encouragement. We practice music to  someday share a joyful message with you, the congregation.

Also, remember the loaves and fishes story? See John 6:1-15. Kids get hungry even when they are doing good for others. ESPECIALLY when they are doing good for others. This is why we feed our youth on Sunday nights.

But notice, “not hearers ONLY.” Hearing the gospel, reading the Bible, is also important. When I interviewed for the job of Youth Director, I shared my three-prong approach. 1) Sunday School, where the Bible is taught.  2) D.A.Y., where we put into practice or DO what we learn in Sunday School and church. And 3) M.A.D. Artist Society, where we take it to the streets using Music, Art & Drama.

I say “we”. This past Sunday, 2 people showed up for youth: myself and Pastor Mark.  I can’t do this by myself. I need help. Please volunteer.

And many, many THANKS❤ to those who have already volunteered with food, time, skills, asked-for items and hard labor. I believe that if we ALL pitch in, we will build a church that is stuffed with young and old, excitement and opportunity.

With Agape,

Sincerely,
Your Dixon Agape Youth Director
