Sermon Notes: 2019-01-27 – No Fear: Living With Courage

NO FEAR: Living With Courage

Series Theme: Everyone worries about something. We all have things we fear. But while fear is a persistent companion, we don’t have to be controlled by it. Through this series we will learn how to address our fears, control them, learn from them, even use them, and we can press through them. We’ll also consider scripture passages about fear and the spiritual practices than can bring real peace. Theme Verse: Deuteronomy 31:6 NRSV   “Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the LORD your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.” Message Theme: “Living with courage comes in part as we face our fears with faith, examine our assumptions in light of facts, attack our anxieties with action, and release our cares to God, praying for his wisdom, strength, and peace.” Hamilton, Adam. Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times (p. 73). The Crown Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.   Scripture: Romans 12:17-21 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.   NO FEAR: Living with Courage Message Outline   List all the people you are afraid of:         If we are to live with courage then we must Face our Giants.     Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.
